Emerging artist Griff has completed her ‘vert1go vol.1’ EP with latest track ‘Astronaut’.

Written and produced solely by Griff, the raw and emotional song features piano played by Coldplay lead singer; Chris Martin who took an interest in the song after she played it to him whilst supporting his band on tour this year.
The singer’s angelic-as-ever vocals display a sadness and desperation that match perfectly with the vulnerable lyrics about the fear of being left behind. But there is a confidence within certain lines, such as “you said you needed some space, go on then astronaut”, that bring power into the song.
Stunning layered vocals and harmonies come in half way through the song to help build it up, but only very slightly and subtly. As much as I think that the simplicity of this song is one of the things that makes it so beautiful, I feel that bringing in more harmonies and instruments towards the end could have elevated it even further.
The song is accompanied by a live video filmed at the Greenwich Maritime Museum in London. If you want to see more you can catch Griff on her upcoming 2024 headline shows.
